Dunblane Hydro Wedding Fayre

Hi folks,

I just thought I’d tell you all how we got on at the Fabulous Wedding show at Dunblane Hydro on Sunday.

Well… in a nutshell…… we really enjoyed ourselves!  There was much fun and laughter throughout the whole day.  We met some lovely engaged couples and we were positioned next to possibly the most eccentric DJs ever! LOL

Our promotional handouts seemed to go down very well and all in all it was a very positive experience.  I’m really looking forward to the next one.

One thing I did find interesting though was that I couldn’t help but notice one of the other photographers exhibiting’s main framed photo of a “bride” was actually of a well known model (Fredau).  I thought that was a little cheeky as it’s not giving a true representation of the photographer’s work at weddings.  Anyway…. nothing to do with me, just an interesting observation from someone who would only ever show images of real brides…. after all, what could look better than a real bride, genuinely happy on her wedding day?

A huge thankyou to Chris for his hard work and his amazing ability to make time fly with his witty banter.  Massive thanks to Laura at LFT Events for having us and pulling together the day so well and lastly to Elvis DJ and the boys from Fresh Entertainment for keeping us much amused!

Our next wedding fair will be at The Hub in Edinburgh on Sunday 24th March…… please do come along and say hello….. it’ll make our day! 😀

The shape of things to come… exciting times ahead…..

Well, since posting my last blog post of 2012, some exciting new developments have begun to unfold.   I have been considering the possibility of finding a new permanent home and studio space for Walllace Artworks, but more crucially, I have acquired an assistant.

I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome Chris on board.  I’m sure he’s going to prove a great asset to the business and he’ll have an important role as we look to the future.  I KNOW we are going to have many laughs along the way (it was an essential job role criteria that he laugh at all of my rubbish jokes and he is adept at this).  But, MOST importantly… he makes a great cup of coffee! 😉

Here he is demonstrating his phone answering skills!………

Happy New Year! A photographic Review of 2012

Hello everyone!

I know I’m a little late with the New Year wishes, but as this is my first blog post of the year…. I thought it best I acknowledge that we have indeed entered 2013.

I didn’t really update my blog nearly as often as I should last year. There were lots of exciting jobs and personal highlights that I didn’t get around to sharing with you, including great weddings at Gean House in Alloa and Napier Craighouse in Edinburgh (one of my personal favourite wedding venues).

I also neglected to tell you about my adventures to London’s Hammersmith Apollo and Glasgow’s SECC for Ultravox, or Aberdeen’s AECC for The Killers including an interesting encounter with a rather smooth Ronnie Vannucci.

I may still revisit some of those past jobs I find interesting, however I have put together a little photographic review for your perusal.  This enabled me to also trial some new software I am considering adding to my arsenal.  Please excuse the software branding, as I say it was testing the waters with a trial version.

I found it very hard to choose my top 50 images, there were so many to choose from…. However, I think it will give you a little flavour of my year.  I have put it together with what I would consider the best song released in the same year.  Yes, contraversial… don’t all contradict me… it’s personal taste.  It was this or “Flesh and Bone” by The Killers.  Instead I have opted for “Live” by Ultravox, details of which are listed on the youtube blurb.

So, I guess all I have to say is…. ENJOY!

Important Announcement

Hello folks,

I realise I haven’t updated my blog for a while.  I’ve been really busy and I’ll update details of those  interesting  jobs I’ve encountered, but I think it’s important that I bring you this update first.

It is with great sadness that I have to announce that Wallace Artworks Photography will no longer reside at Gilmore Place, Edinburgh.

Due to a change in personal circumstances, I, for the time being, need to return to working from home and the flexibility that this offers.  I will be sad to say good bye to the studio.  I’ve been there for the last 2 years and 4 months.  But Wallace Artworks existed BEFORE the studio premises and rest assured, it will continue now.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my neighbours in the area, Particularly Nicola at Glamour Hair and Beauty, The Viewforth Glazing boys and Inbal & Nir from Dough Re Mi bakery. I was indeed lucky to have great neighbours at these premises and I’ll make a point of keeping in touch with everyone in the area.

I would like to reitterate that Wallace Artworks Photography will continue trading, all gift vouchers and promotional offers will continue to be valid.  The Edinburgh Wedding Supplier Alliance will also continue, just from a different venue (details will be posted on the website & Facebook pages).

Thank you to all of those who chose to support Wallace Artworks over the recent years….. please continue to journey with me, who knows what the future holds! 😉

Carole: a “corporate” portrait, Edinburgh Corporate Portrait Photographer

Hi Folks,

Another little long overdue update.

Carole came to me a couple of months back having searched the net scouring several photographers websites. She came to me because she wanted some publicity shots for her business. Carole is a classical singer as well as a music therapist. So the images had to be multi functional, for use in tour programmes and CVs but also getting her personality across.

She was so delighted with her images, that she is planning to book a family portrait session before Christmas… high praise indeed. Some images from here session here… proof that a business portrait doesn’t have to be stuffy……

Jen & Colin, Sacred Heart Church Edinburgh Wedding Photographer

A couple of months back, Canadian couple Jen and Colin came over from their homeland to get married here in Edinburgh.
We had only communicated by email and so the first I had met them was at the church just prior to their ceremony. We got on like a house on fire. They were getting married at Sacred Heart church at Lauriston, a BEAUTIFUL building and a church I’m very familiar with as it was my parish as a child and I myself got married there.

It was a lovely intimate ceremony with only the couple, Fr Peter, 2 parishioners (as witnesses) and myseslf. It was a lovely welcoming atmosphere and I was asked if I wanted to take part by receiving communion. This is the first time that has ever happened to me, and whilst I didn’t… instead preferring be ready to capture anything I might miss… It was nice to feel included and part of the celebration.

After the ceremony we made sure we had a photo of everyone and then we made our way in my car to a couple of other locations in the city to get some unique images to take back to Canada.

They were a lovely couple, a pleasure to photograph and I hope they will keep in touch. Some images from the day here……

>Leona’s Boudoir, Edinburgh Boudoir Photographer

>Fairly recently I had Leona, a rather stunning young lady, in to the studio for her boudoir shoot.

There’s not a lot to say about this really…. I think the images say it all. However, we did have a real laugh and she was great fun.
I will be very soon launching some new boudoir promotions, so keep your eyes peeled!
In the mean time, here are some of Leona’s images, I hope you like them…….

>New Website!

>Exciting times here at Wallace Artworks. The new website went live a couple of days ago. There are still some final touches to be made, galleries updated, rendering etc. However, on the whole.. I think I rather like it.

Huge thanks to Alex at Roslin Design for puting it together for me! 😀
