>Last Wedding of 2010! Norton House Hotel, Edinburgh

>On Hogmany 2010, I had the very great pleasure of photographing Amanda & Gary’s wedding at the Norton House Hotel, Edinburgh.

It was a cold day, although the troublesome snow which had plagued Central Scotland, had subsided and retreated somewhat.

I made my way to the brides room to be greated by Amanda (the Bride), her daughter and her best friend. Amanda was pretty much ready, so no “getting ready shots” required. She looked absolutely stunning in a pewter figure hugging dress.
I stayed and we had a chat and a giggle whilst some well wishers, including the Brides mother, popped in to say hello.

The ceremony started early, due to the fact that the registrar arrived more than half an hour before she was due. We were told during the proceedings that it was her final wedding, as she was changing careers…… perhaps this was why she was keen to start and finish early.
The ceremony was lovely, the Bride accompanied by her Daughter down the aisle and all of their children playing an important part in proceedings.

Emotions were varied and plentiful, which made for some great captured moments.

Norton House Hotel Edinburgh Wedding PhotographerAfter the ceremony there was some time for guests to mingle in one of the intimate rooms at Norton House, of which there are many.

On this occasion the Bride and Groom had decided that they wanted soley reportage coverage without any formal or posed shots.
Of course, on the day both mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom wanted family group photos to be taken, although no-one wanted to go outside in the cold!
So we took the opportunity to gather everyone in the foyer around the Christmas tree. A few small group shots were taken in between guests checking in at the reception desk!

One of my favourite things whilst photographing a wedding, is to capture images of guests when they least expect it, to capture natural portraits.

Just before it was time to leave, a group of the guests arranged themselves in an amusing manner. Subtly hinting at their drinking habits! This was the last image of the day.
The wedding party were later to join the Hogmany ball being held at Norton House that evening. I regret to say that I was unable to capture any of the evening events. However I am sure that everyone had a fabulous time.
I wish Amanda and Gary all the very best for the rest of their married lives together. It was an honour and a pleasure to spend the day with you both and your wonderful welcoming guests.
