>Reaffirmation at Royal Terrace Hotel, Edinburgh

>

The day after the wedding at Edinburgh Castle, I was destined to head into the city centre once again.
Corinna and Darren were renewing their vows at the Royal Terrace hotel. I had met the couple here a few weeks prior, but before that event I had never been inside it. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. My first impression was that it is much larger inside than I had thought.

So I arrived on the day, a pleasant Sunday afternoon….. if a little chilly. The piper was practising as I arrived and I made my way to the “bride’s” room. When I arrived, she was already dressed and ready….. early! This made me a little redundant, but I took a couple of photos of her bouquet. I was kindly offered a glass of champagne, which I declined as I was working and driving… however we exchanged a joke that I was missing Columbo (which was on in the background) and I should stick the kettle on. LOL

I then made my way up to catch some guests arriving and mingling with the “groom” in the foyer.

Everyone made their way outside and we waited for the bride to arrive. There was a little surprise instore for the guests, hidden in the bushes, camouflaged in tweed was a falconer. The couple had arranged for an owl ring bearer.

After a very very brief ceremony and exchange of vows, the guests remained outside for some group shots and to mingle. It was at this point that Alistair the venue co-ordinator and I made a mad dash to the 3rd floor….. I say mad dash, but actually we waited for the lift so it seemed to take forever! LOL

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Alistair, not only for ensuring that I got to a higher vantage point to take group shots, but also for ensuring that I got something to drink…. it’s thirsty work you know! That fresh orange and lemonade went down a treat! 😉

The guests mingled for a while outside while the room for the reception was set up. As it was a renewal of vows, I was only hired for 2 hours in contrast to the previous two weddings which were all day events, I stayed until the cutting of the cake.

The piper wrapped up his part of the day by toasting the happy couple and then made a sharp exit, followed closely by myself after telling the bride and groom to enjoy the rest of their day. I left everyone before they ate and there was a great atmosphere. I’m sure a great time was had by all!
